Camp Fire Festival

Mlawula Camp Fire Festival is a flagship annual event held at the Siphiso campsite on the last weekend of October. The event target market is local and international camping enthusiasts; outdoor adventurers; families and companies looking for a different and refreshing adventure filled weekend away littered in a pristine and scenic wilderness area. The aim is to continually grow the festival and establish it as the biggest camping event in the country. The event features entertainment activities, such as hiking, aerobics, team building exercises, game viewing, bicycle rides, comedy shows, raffle draws, live music performances, cultural dance and exhibitions and children’s games. The target this year is to host about 800 to 1000 campers.

The Campfire Festival aims to achieve the following objectives;

  • Fundraising

To raise funds to enhance the reserve’s conservation management programmes and community relations to ensure the continued support and promotion of sustainable conservation and wise use of biodiversity.

  • Conservation

To expose visitors and enhance their appreciation of the benefits and necessity of the conservation of biodiversity and natural resources.

  • Responsible Tourism

To strategically incorporate and implement a holistic responsible tourism model in order to maximize positive impacts and reduce negative impacts on the three pillars.

PACKAGES

The event is comprised of three packages which have been crafted as follows;

  • Impala Package: This is a full weekend self-catering package, which covers camping from Friday to Sunday and filled with handful of attractive activities. Clients bring their own camping equipment and meals.
  • Imbabala Package: This is one night self-catering camping festive pass, starting from Saturday and ending on Sunday. With this package you only enjoy the Saturday and Sunday activities. Clients bring their own food and camping equipment.
  • Lituba Package: This is a self-catering couple’s package, which covers the full event activities starting from Friday and ending on Sunday. It comes with camping equipment that comprise of 1 x 2-sleeper tent and 2 x sponges. Tickets for this package are only available phase 1 and 2 of the ticket sales.
  • Umsumpe Package: This is a self-catering couple’s package, which covers only one night, from Saturday to Sunday. This package comes with 1 x 2 sleeper tent and 2 sponges. Meals are not covered. This package will only be available in phase 1 and 2 of the ticket sales.
