As custodians of Eswatini’s rich cultural heritage, the Eswatini National Trust Commission (ENTC) established an authentic traditional Swati homestead as a living exhibit at the 2026 Eswatini Culture Festival, held at Ludzidzini Royal Residence. This immersive experience allowed visitors to step back in time and witness a typical homestead firsthand, continuing the commemoration of the 40/58 jubilee celebrations, marking 40 years since the coronation of His Majesty King Mswati III in 1986 and his 58th birthday.
The jubilee, observed in April 2026 with main events at Lobamba and Somhlolo National Stadium, became a time of national thanksgiving, unity, and deep pride in emaSwati heritage, drawing regional leaders from South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Zambia to honor a reign defined by peace and cultural preservation. Throughout the day, the ENTC’s living exhibit came alive with traditional food tasting, a vibrant showcase of authentic attire, and live demonstrations of traditional musical instruments, immersing all who attended in the true spirit of Umphakatsi and the enduring legacy of the 40/58 jubilee.
